Lung cancer has been causing more victims than all the other types of cancers, in the last few years and the numbers are growing from year to year, and an average number of victims in the last period of time has reached even 1 million deaths per year . One of the main problems regarding lung cancer is the moment when it is detected in the patients and when the diagnosis is established by the doctors and the patients can start an appropriate and efficient treatment .

Usually lung cancer is hard to be discovered in the early stages because the first signs of lung cancer usually can not be felt by the patients who develop it .

The most frequent type of lung cancer, the non small cell lung cancers, are scaled in four different stages from I meaning the first and easiest and earliest faze and stage four which is the last or terminal stage of the disease . Usually lung cancer starts with the apparition of lung tumors which install themselves in the lungs and the cancer is localized and focused in that area and in this stage if a patient does not make radiography or other blood tests, there can not be discovered the cancer because the first signs of lung cancer do not show up .

In stage two, the lung tumors are usually developed and they can have different sizes and they can in some cases affect the general health of the patient meaning that the patients can experience some persistent cough or repeated infections like bronchitis and the lung cancer can spread to the lymph nodes which are found in the nearby areas of the places where lung tumors are localized .

In the majority of cases, the patients reach the doctor when lung cancer is already advanced and it is usually found in the stage 3 when the survival rates are not so optimistic . All the patients when are diagnosed with lung cancer are given a life expectancy of five years but not all of them actually live all the period of time that they are given because there are many factors which contribute to the lifetime that they are left .

When lung cancer is found in an advanced stage, the harm that has been done to the lungs is very large and there can not be spoken about surgery for making an intervention that could eliminate the tumors because the lung cancer is extended and it is not only localized in the lungs ,it can also be found in many other parts of the body and in consequence many organs, areas and vital functions are affected .

So beside of the lung affection, the patients also experience other complications and affections linked with the bone system, digestive system, cardiovascular system, adrenal glands and even brain and heart and the last two types of complication can prove to be fatal to the patients that develop them more rapidly than the lung cancer itself .

The majority part of the lung cancer patients usually are not conscious about the disease that has been developed inside of their lungs and they do not believe that smoking can be responsible for such a large number of deaths meaning that 1,1 millions, circa, die annually killed by this disease. The five year survival rate that they are given at the beginning, when they are first diagnosed it is not always relevant because the rate can be true with some conditions and for every type of cancer there is a percentage of patients which manages to survive the five year life expectancy but the survival rates are poor for most of the patients with lung cancer .

Patients who start to develop lung cancer in their lungs do not take in count the early signs of lung cancer because they are easily thought to be something else . In most cases people who are smokers are the first and usually the only people who are serious affected by the disease and they start to cough, this is the first and the earliest sign that is something which is not functioning in well conditions .



Many believe this is because they intake too much smoke out of the cigarettes or because they caught a seasonal flu that will go away with some usual medication . The majority do not even think they could as well develop an early stage of lung cancer such as stage 1 and stage 2 when the lung tumors are starting to develop in the lungs and the cancer is local and surgery could resolve the problem pretty easily if the place where the tumors are localized will permit the intervention to take place without other major risk and complications .



But as many do not go to the doctor and they ignore these early signs of lung cancer , they start to develop infections like bronchitis and pneumonia for several times, they do not manage to get rid of the persistent cough, they start to even cough up blood, they start to have difficulties with breathing and experience shortness of breath and many times they start to feel pains in the back area and also in the chest cavity and they start to become worried and eventually they end up going to the doctor but they decide it a little bit too later because the lung cancer is no longer localized ; it has started to spread all over the body and many parts and organs of the body are affected, vital organs are harmed, more and more healthy cells are infected with the cancerous cells, the normal functions of the body for survival are not working well, the treatment is no longer efficient and it can not always be applied because the state of the patients is no longer good and it does not afford it because there can appear many other deadly complications . These things are not taken in consideration and they end up with many other health problems .
